You can tell very close family (partner, maybe older children) and trusted loved ones where you work for MI6 (SIS), but you absolutely cannot tell anyone outside your immediate family for safety reasons; the agency provides specific training and "cover" advice on what to say to others to protect yourself, your family, and operations.
